Delta Gamma

Philanthropy Events

Since 1936, Delta Gamma’s philanthropic purpose has been to stop blindness before it starts. For men and women for whom blindness is a fact, the mission has been to impact the quality of their lives in a myriad of positive ways.

As sisters of the Sigma chapter at Northwestern, we are proud that philanthropy is one of our strongest foundations.  We hold multiple events every year to raise awareness and funds for the Delta Gamma Foundation, as well as various Service for Sight organizations that directly help those who are blind or visually impaired.  Some of our philanthropies include AnchorBowl (a flag football tournament) and DG Grub (all-you-can-eat grilled cheese and tater tots in our 618 kitchen!).

In the Sigma chapter, we understand that philanthropy involves more than just our national philanthropy.  Each year we have a huge group of girls dance for DG – partnered with Zeta Beta Tau - in Northwestern’s Dance Marathon.  For many years,  DGZBT has been proud to be the most successful fundraising group participating in Dance Marathon, which in 2014 raised over $1.2 million for Team Joseph.

Our sisters also participate in other Greek philanthropies and have a strong presence in groups all over campus.  We work to form connections with local residents who are blind and visually impaired; each year we've hosted families of visually impaired children at our house to create "tactile valentines" that they can feel instead of read!  Over the past few years, we have also held a trick-or-treating event for children who are blind or visually impaired, recorded voice messages and sent them to children, and participated in the Foundation Fighting Blindness’ Vision Walk.

Our chapter at Northwestern truly lives by Delta Gamma’s motto that says, “Do Good.”
